STRATECH SYSTEMS LIMITED ANNOUNCES SENIOR MANAGEMENT, BOARD APPPOINTMENTS
SINGAPORE, February 16, 2004 - Stratech Systems Limited ("Stratech"), an advanced technology and e-business developer, announced today three senior appointments to the management team and the Board of Directors – including the former IT head of the Port of Singapore Authority ("PSA"), a technology marketing expert and a banking and finance veteran – to help Executive Chairman Dr. David K.M. Chew spearhead the Singapore Exchange-listed company's plans to offer its technologies globally.
Mr. Eric Lui, aged 55, has been appointed Senior Vice President and Head of Operations. He worked for 27 years in the PSA, 18 years of which he held the position of head of IT and was responsible for innovations of IT applications of PSA, which is currently ranked the busiest container port in the world.
A mechanical engineer by training, Mr. Lui was instrumental in developing certain key IT programmes in PSA during his tenure, including computer-directed systems for conventional cargo operations, ship planning, container terminal operations and management; and PORTNET, a port community system with thousands of agents, haulage companies and other secondary port users accessing it every day.
Mr. Kamal Sharma, aged 49, has been appointed Senior Vice President and Head of Sales and Marketing. An Indian-born New Zealand citizen, Mr. Sharma has held senior management appointments in software and technology related companies, internationally, over the last 27 years, specialising in global revenue growth, profitability and brand building in the technology sector.
His previous appointments include Director of Worldwide Sales and Marketing for Exant Software of the United Kingdom, CEO for the Asia-Pacific region and a member of the Executive Board for JBA Holdings, a UK-listed software solutions company with global revenues of over US$550 million.
In the past Mr Sharma has held senior appointments with Canadian business performance software vendor Geac, where he served as Regional Manager for the Company's Asian business and McDonnell Douglas' efforts in the Public sector.
Stratech also announced the appointment of Mr. Christopher Alexander Millar as a non-executive director of the Company. Aged 49, Mr. Millar currently holds the position of President and CEO of Diginerv, Inc., a U.S.-based supplier of advanced IT products. Prior to joining Diginerv, Inc., he held senior international banking and finance appointments, including as Banking Policy Expert for the Asian Development Bank, Chief Executive Officer and President of NASDAQ-listed Argent Capital Corporation and Managing Director of Bankers Trust Company (based in New Zealand and then Hong Kong).
Commenting on the appointments, Dr Chew said: "As part of our Strategy 2005, Stratech is positioning itself to be a truly global technology provider. The addition of Eric, Kamal and Chris – who each bring with them proven management and international marketing experience at the highest levels – will bring Stratech closer to achieving its goals."
